DogWood valley ranch
Pinedale, WY

This expansive project restored approximately three river miles of Willow Creek and the New Fork River on the Dogwood Valley Ranch in Pinedale, WY, where decades of heavy livestock usage had left the river channel wide, shallow and straightened and the river banks devegetated and eroded. Our overarching goal was to increase low-flow holding water for resident trout by adding depth, sinuosity, permanent structure, bank stabilization and riparian vegetation.

PROJECT HIGHLIGHTS:

• Four sections of toewood bank installed
• Logs and boulders added throughout project
• Over 120 willows transplanted
• Weirs built for grade control
• Existing mid-river ponds deepened
• Careful consideration to spawning trout throughout construction
• Project Completion 2024
